Robert (Bob) Austin

After a lengthy illness, Bob passed away on Sept. 4. He was surrounded by his immediate family as his "Soul Rose with the Sun".

A 21-year Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he attained the rank of Senior Master Sergeant and was highly decorated for "Above and Beyond the Call of Duty". Bob served in many places including Alaska and Japan.

Locally, he was here to close the Winnemucca site. After retiring from the Air Force he returned his family to Winnemucca and went to work for the Pacific Western Systems as production manager and purchasing agent.

Always an outdoor person, he retired in 2000 to pursue his hobbies of desert riding, motorcycles, quads, bicycles, hiking and fishing.

Surviving Bob are his wife Kay, daughter Tracy, spouse David, son Chuck, spouse Tracie, grandson Shaun, brothers Larry Clark, spouse Cookie and Gary Clark, spouse Melanie, stepfather Larry Clark, sisters-in-law Norma Kearns and Bobbie Austin, cousin Diane Kearns, numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob loved every family member and took pride in every one of them. He will be greatly missed. No formal services are planned.
