CARSON CITY (AP) - When it comes to road conditions, Nevada ranks better than a lot of other states.
That's according to a report released July 2 by Reason Foundation, a nonpartisan public policy think tank based in Los Angeles.
The annual report, based on 2009, data ranks Nevada's state highway system 16th in the nation in overall highway performance and efficiency. Nevada ranked 15th in 2008 and 18th the year before.
Nevada ranks second in the fewest deficient bridges and is tied for first with 19 other states in rural interstate pavement condition.
But not all the news was glowing, as drivers in the state's urban cores can attest.
The state ranks 41st in urban interstate congestion.
Additionally, the report says administrative costs and total disbursements per mile are well above the national average.
