The final state championships of the high school year take place this week for Lowry and McDermitt high schools.

The Lowry High School boys golf team is in Pahrump for the NIAA Division I-A State Golf Championships. The opening round is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at Mountain Falls Golf Club. The final 18 holes will be played on Thursday.

The Buckaroos are looking for their state-record 13th state title and are competing against Elko, Spring Creek, Faith Lutheran, Pahrump Valley and Boulder City. Lowry has won three of the last four Division I-A state championships and the last two.

The Lowry High swim team will make the long trip to Las Vegas for the NIAA Division I-A State Championships on the campus on UNLV on Saturday. The Buckaroos qualified a handful of boys and girls for the championships. The Lady Bucks finished third in the regional championships this past weekend in Carson City. Action in Las Vegas begins at 2 p.m.

The Lowry and McDermitt track and field teams will be in Carson City at Carson High School Friday and Saturday for the NIAA State Championships. Action gets underway at 3 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. on Saturday.
