Recall issued for ginger snap cookies

COMMERCE, Calif. - Unified Grocers is recalling 12 ounce bags of "Special Value Ginger Snap Cookies" because they may contain undeclared eggs.

The recalled cookies were distributed throughout California, Arizona and Nevada in retail stores.

The product comes in a 12 ounce, plastic package marked with best by

SEP 23 14 on the backside of the package.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the bags were mistakenly packed with cinnamon sugar cookies instead of ginger snap cookies they were intended to contain.

The cinnamon sugar cookies contain egg among their ingredients.

The recall was the result of a routine sampling program conducted by Unified Grocers.

Production of the product has been suspended until FDA and Unified Grocers are certain that the problem has been corrected.

Consumers who have purchased the cookies are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
