Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Ramona "Mona" Lee Huitt passed away in her home Jan 26, 2015.
Mona was born in Alturas, Calif. She was one of nine children. She attended high school at the Stewart Indian School in Carson City, Nev. where she graduated with a Betty Crocker scholarship. She attended college in Honolulu, Hawaii, until she started her life as a loving mother.
She was the best mother and father her children could have ever wished for, lovingly referred to as "Mad." She loved her family and long time friends more that we can describe in words; her children and grandchildren meant the world to her. To her loved ones, she was perfect in every way; she was strong, kind, caring, beautiful and the light in the life of anyone that was lucky enough to have known her.
Her spirit is carried on by her children, Jodie Marie Huitt and Marshall Kane Huitt; grandchildren, Lillian, Tyler, TaLynn, Chance, Tru, Ryder, Michael and Bodie; sisters, Connie Summers, Robyn Burdette, Laurel Glinsmann and Renee Siebert; brothers, Michael Huitt, Reggie Townsend and Scott Burdette; also an extended family and friends too numerous to list but not forgotten.
She was reunited wither her mother, Josephine Elizabeth Brown; sister, Linda; brothers, Brad and Jay; and her beloved son, Monte Jay Huitt.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a memorial fund she created for her son - Monte Jay Huitt Memorial Fund at US Bank. Also consider doing a random act of love/kindness in memory of our mother. She brightened everyone's day ... day you brighten another's in her memory. Thank you.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and patients at the Winnemucca Davita center for their kindness to Mona while in their care.
A private service is being held for family. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
She was beautiful, but not like those girls in the magazines. She was beautiful for the way she thought. She was beautiful for that sparkle in her eyes when she talked about her loved ones. She was beautiful for her ability to make other people smile even if she was sad. No, she wasn't beautiful for something as temporary as her looks. She was beautiful, deep down to her soul.
