Raley's working to correct duplicate charges

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - On Sunday, Nov. 6, Raley's, Bel Air, Nob Hill and Food Source stores experienced a technical problem with transactions using debit cards, credit cards, gift cards and EBT cards that may have resulted in duplicate charges to some customers.

This was a technical malfunction and not a security issue, according to a press release from the company.

"We can assure all our customers that the security of personal and financial payment information was never at risk," said Raley's spokeswoman Ashley Zepernick. "Once we were made aware of the problem, we immediately worked to correct it and by late last evening (Nov. 6), all transactions were being processed correctly."

According to an updated press release from the company sent out Tuesday, all duplicate transactions involving debit cards, credit cards and EBT cards that occurred at all of the stores on Nov. 6 have been sent to their card processor to begin the reimbursement process. Once completed, the duplicate charges will be immediately removed from all affected customers' accounts; however, the actual processing time may vary from bank to bank.

Raley's was still working as of Tuesday to refund customers who used mixed tender for their transactions (for example, first used their credit card, and then paid with cash).

To report duplicate charges, customers may contact the Raley's Service Center at (800) 925-9989 or at raleys.com.
