Raley's stores possible victim of cyber attack

Customers advised to monitor accounts

WINNEMUCCA - Raley's Family of Fine Stores recently discovered that a portion of its computer network systems may have been the target of a criminal cyber attack and has since taken immediate action to enhance security, according to a news release from the company.

According to the news release, the company launched an investigation immediately following the attack to determine whether or not customer credit and debit card information had been obtained. At this point, the company said it has not confirmed any unauthorized access to payment card data, but the investigation is ongoing.

The company said it has no reason to believe that PIN numbers could have been accessed, and Social Security numbers and drivers' license information is not collected in association with payment card transactions.

Raley's has taken immediate steps to enhance the security measures already in place to protect customer data, according to the news release, and is confident that customers can continue using payment cards in its stores.

Raley's encourages customers to check and monitor bank and credit card statements for any evidence of unauthorized transactions and to contact their bank if any suspicious charges are identified. The company said cardholders are not typically held responsible for fraudulent charges made by unauthorized parties if they are promptly to the card issuer.

Raley's response team is available from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day at (800) 925-9989 to answer any questions. Updates and customer fact sheets are available at www.raleys.com.
