WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - With one simple text, people can help end hunger in their local community thanks to a new service added to Raley's Family of Fine Stores' Food For Families campaign.
Now through Dec. 31, people can contribute $10 by texting the word ENDHUNGER to 85944 and a Food For Families bag of groceries will be donated to help local food banks meet the increased demand for food among thousands of hungry families and individuals throughout northern California and Nevada.
Raley's will match each donation and provide a bag of groceries worth more than $20 and containing fresh and nutritious items including carrots, potatoes, green salad and whole wheat pasta. The company partners with 72 food banks throughout the region to distribute the food to help feed the hungry throughout the year.
Raley's is partnering with MobileCause to administer the text to give effort. Once a text is sent, the individual will have the $10 donation charged to his or her phone bill. Standard text data rights apply and the ENDHUNGER text option is available through major carriers including AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile.
"We are really excited to provide this new mobile text capability to people wanting to contribute to Food For Families," said Jennifer Teel-Wolter, community relations manager for Raley's. She added, "Especially during the busy holidays, people can now contribute to Food For Families in the manner most convenient for them whether it is in store at the checkout line, online at www.foodforfamilies.org, on our Facebook page or via text."
This is the 27th annual Food For Families holiday bag campaign with the goal of raising more than 2 million pounds of food to help local food banks in 2013.[[In-content Ad]]
