Public hearing to be held March 22 on mobile home ordinance

BATTLE MOUNTAIN - Lander County commissioners heard a proposal/introduction of Ordinance No. 2012-01, an ordinance amending Section 15.24.030(D) of the Lander County Code to allow a mobile home or manufactured home to be permanently installed in Lander County if it has been constructed or manufactured not more than 15 years prior to the date of application for a building or moving permit.

Commissioners voted unanimously Feb. 23 to uphold the recommendation of the Planning Commission and set the proposed ordinance for public hearing for March 22.

Provisions under the Lander County Code 15.24.030(D) are such that any mobile or manufactured home to be permanently placed anywhere in Lander County must be built or manufactured not more than five years from the date of such permanent placement. This provision was put into Lander County Code through the passage of the Commission of Lander County Ordnance No. 2007-09 in February 2007.

This restriction does not apply to mobile or manufactured homes already in existence within the county. This restriction also does not apply to a travel trailer or portable demountable cabana as defined in Lander County Code 15.020.

The Planning Commission met in their regular session on Jan. 11 and unanimously approved a recommendation for the approval of the amendment to the code to change the allowable age of mobile or manufactured homes from five to 15 years old by the Lander County Board of Commissioners.
