WINNEMUCCA - This is the way they prospected a hundred years ago. They walked. And walked long, difficult miles.

These trips weren't for the timid or the weak. They required strength and self reliance. No riding. The mules were used to pack supplies only. And they were loaded. Those mules had to carry enough for the several months these trips often took.

We know the names of the two gentleman: W. W. Wells is standing with his dog. The gentleman next to the mule is Jim Cushon. It'd be nice to report that for all of that effort - the Jacksons are rugged and difficult hiking - the two found a bit of gold.

They weren't that lucky. Eldorado eluded them this trip. The gold, if there is any, is still in that rugged canyon.
