Curt Prokasky was born in January 1963 in Port Angeles, Wash.
His father was a 22-year veteran active duty US Coast Guardsman.
Following in his fathers foot steps, Curt graduated from high school and went into the Coast Guard in June 1982 and served on active duty until June 1986.
He served on The US Coast Guard Cutter Elderberry in Petersburg, Alaska and then transferred to Kennewick, Wash., as a Search and Rescue coxswain on the Colombia River.
In 2000 Tim Stanton talked Curt into going into the National Guard here in Winnemucca. In July 2004, he received orders to go to Iraq and served until November 2005. He served as a Gun Track Commander providing security to US convoys across the country. He had clocked over 75,000 miles in Iraq while serving with the1864th MTC. In May of 2012 he again received orders but to go to Afghanistan with the 593rd MTC from Winnemucca and returned end of March 2003. He served as the operations
NCOIC for the 593rd MTC. He is now serving as the Truck Master of the 593rd MTC National Guard.
Curt is married to his gorgeous blond Lea Ann. He has two sons, James, 29, and Jarrin, 28, and one daughter Kelsey, 25. His brother Brian lives here with his wife Alicia and their children Brycen and Silvie and brother-in-law Anthony Martinez.
His sister- in-law Melanie Martinez as well as Benny Martinez and family live here also.
Curt is an avid golfer and spends time trying to get better. He spends lots of his time hanging out with his wife Lea Ann. Curt moved from Alaska to Winnemucca in 1989. He entered into the mining industry in 1992.
Curt starting with working for the Santa Fe, Amax Gold at Sleeper mine and then to Newmont mining where he has been for the last 22 years.
Curt would like to thank Newmont mining for all their support and keeping his job for him after all his deployments.
His wife Lea Ann has been very involved with NG family Redress Group and the American Legion. Curt is also an American Legion member.
Both he and his wife are volunteers for the ESGR (employer Support of Guards and Reserves).
