Program addresses medical ethics in an electronic age

May 24 program offered at multiple locations across Nevada

RENO - The Nevada Geriatric Education Consortium, a partnership of the University of Nevada School of Medicine and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, presents the next free Geriatric Lecture Series on Friday, May 24, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at multiple locations throughout Nevada.

The lecture, "Medical Ethics: HIPAA in an Electronic Age," will be presented by James Epperson, MBA, from the school of medicine's office of compliance.

The lecture will discuss the origins of the Health Information and Accountability Act (HIPPA), offer suggestions on navigating the "dos" and "don'ts" of HIPAA in an electronic age and review case studies of conviction and willful neglect.

The presentation will be offered via video teleconference in Reno, Las Vegas, Battle Mountain, Caliente, Carson City, Elko, Eureka, Fallon, Gardnerville, Hawthorne, Henderson, Lovelock, Owyhee, Pahrump, Winnemucca and Yerington.
