Port of Subs opening in September

Sandwich shop brings 12 jobs to Lovelock

LOVELOCK - A new Port of Subs restaurant will open for business next month, according to Port of Subs officials. The eatery will serve custom-made submarine sandwiches plus soups, salads, party trays and other fast food inside the Golden Gate Auto-Truck Plaza.

The estimated opening date for the Lovelock Port of Subs is Sept. 10, according to Marylou Dalton, director of human resources for the sandwich company.

The sandwich shop will be operated as a joint venture between Port of Subs and Golden Gate Petroleum, Port of Subs President Mike Powell said recently.

Another Port of Subs restaurant is open for business inside the Golden Gate truck stop on USA Parkway east of Reno.

Dalton said she and area supervisor Bear Olsen will be hiring a restaurant staff of 12 people. The company's website www.portofsubs.com provides job opening information and an application that must be printed, completed then mailed, faxed or emailed back to the company's headquarters in Reno, she said.

A grand opening will be held about four weeks after the initial opening.

The restaurant will be open daily from 4 a.m. to 9 p.m., Dalton said.
