Port of Subs looking for help in Lovelock Sandwich shop may open at new truck stop

LOVELOCK - Port of Subs, a fast-food restaurant chain, may open a new sandwich shop at the Golden Gate truck stop now under construction near downtown Lovelock.

The restaurant company is holding a job fair on April 24 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pershing County Community Center, 820 6th St. in Lovelock, according to Heidi Lusby-Angvick, coordinator for the Pershing County Economic Diversification Authority (PCEDA).

"They (Port of Subs) have an opportunity to locate at the truck stop on exit 106 and are trying to determine if they will have enough employees to staff the restaurant," Lusby-Angvick said in an e-mail message.

The company has also posted a job notice on Craigslist for general, assistant and shift manager positions for the restaurant. The ad says they are searching for people with at least two years prior restaurant management experience, excellent customer service and communication skills and the ability to train and direct others. Applicants can e-mail resumes to: gsnvz-2954919968@job.craigslist.org.

Interested persons can also fax or send their resumes to: Port of Subs, Inc., 5365 Mae Anne Ave., Ste. A-29, Reno, NV 89523. The fax number is (775) 747-1510.

Anyone with questions or concerns may contact Lusby-Angvick at (775) 273-4909.

According to the company's website, the business idea started in 1972 with a "modest" submarine sandwich shop called the "Sub Shop" in Sparks. From there, the company has grown into seven western states with 140 shops.
