WINNEMUCCA - On March 28 the Winnemucca Police Department, in cooperation with the Frontier Community Coalition, conducted an enforcement operation targeting individuals who purchase alcoholic beverages for individuals who are under the age of 21.
Two local businesses were visited and attempts were made by two underage persons to have adults purchase alcohol for them, according to a WPD news release.
Approximately 30 individuals were contacted and none of them agreed to purchase alcohol for the underage individuals. Had anyone purchased alcohol for the underage individuals, they would have been cited for selling or furnishing an alcoholic beverage to a minor. This violation carries a bail of $1,127.
The enforcement operation was made possible through grant funds distributed by the Frontier Community Coalition.
