WINNEMUCCA - Volunteers at the Pleasant Senior Center were recently honored for their service during Volunteer Appreciation Week.
According to Director Patricia Tindall, the center runs on such a small paid staff that the contributions of volunteers is crucial to the center's daily operations. Volunteers man the front desk to greet visitors and collect money, and those who contribute to the craft department run the store and raise money that goes toward upgrades and equipment for the center.
Additionally, Tindall called the Swinging Seniors choir the "face" of the senior center, and said they are like ambassadors to the rest of the community since they get requested to perform at various events.
"There is no way we could do what we do without the volunteers," she said.
