Big Meadow Recycling will have regular hours 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Jan. 1 - 3. Accepting card board, wrapping paper and your other recyclables. You can also drop off your Christmas tree.

Producer meeting
Pershing County's Farm Service Agency is hosting a farmer and rancher producer meeting on Thursday, Jan. 8 at 10 a.m. at the community center. Sate and local representatives will explain and answer questions about the new 2014 Farm Bill, and how it can benefit local farmers and ranchers. Call (775) 273-2922 with any questions.

Story Hour
Pershing County Library
Story Hour will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 2 from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. and will continue through May 2015. Story Hour promotes books, listening skills and learning activities. For children ages 3-5. 775-273-2216.
Pershing County Learning Center
The Pershing County Learning Center is offering free classes to earn a high school equivalency certificate, an adult high school diploma, vocational certificates, and many courses of interest. Also, offering college courses through Great Basin College. Call or stop by if interested. Pershing County museum opens
The Pershing County Museum will be open from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday thru Saturday. Everyone is encouraged to visit the many interesting displays that give a glimpse into the history of the Valley.
Living Waters Ministry House
Lovelock and Pershing County residents in need of free clothing may find what they need at the Living Waters Ministry House east of town at 700 Reservoir Road. The facility is open each Wednesday from 9 a. m. to 4 p. m., Thursdays from 1 p. m. to 4 p. m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 8 a. m. to 4 p. m.

Pershing County Senior Center
The Pershing County Senior Center is in need of volunteers. We are looking for more high energy volunteers who can work at least once a week for a few hours. If you are interested in helping others, and have free time once a week during lunch, or have to do some volunteer hours for work, we would love to have you! Please come by the Center any time between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm or call 273-2291 and talk to Stephanie Wenzel.
Pershing County Resource Center
The Pershing County Business Resource Center is now open. It is located at the Pershing County Community Center, Star Room, 820 6thStreet, Lovelock, NV 89419. The center has 4 computers for free use by persons ages 17 and older for business, job, and educational purposes. The Star Room is also used as a classroom, so a calendar of availability can be found at www.pershingcounty.net. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday - Friday. Call 273-7144 for more information.

PGH needs volunteers
The Pershing General Hospital Nursing Home is in need of volunteers to spend time with nursing home residents, one on one visits and group activities. We also need donations of dollar store items for our Bingo Store. They win gold coins during bingo and bi monthly we set up a bingo store in the facility and let them shop. Pershing County Library
The Pershing County Library is open Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Wednesday from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m.; Thursday from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Story hour Tuesdays with preschoolers (older than 3) from 10 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. The library is located at 1125 Central Ave. For more information call 273-2216.

Church of the Good Shepherd Food Bank
The Church of the Good Shepherd Food Bank currently has donated food available for those in need. Pastor D.W. Hutson asks that you call ahead to pick up the items from the church, located at 16500 state Route 400 in Unionville. The church accepts food and clothing donations to give away to those in need. Sunday services at 11:30 a.m. No charge for wedding services or funeral services regardless of membership. For more information call (775) 538-7570.
Daily Mass at St. John the Baptist Church
Daily masses are held at St. John the Baptist Church on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in the Father Vieages Room in the Annex.
