LOVELOCK - Pershing County Chukars Unlimited (PCCU) kicks off the hunting season with their annual dinner on Sept. 15 at the Pershing County Community Center. This is the 13th annual dinner, auction and raffle fundraiser the PCCU has held.

Each year many locals and outdoor enthusiasts sell out the dinner. This year's menu includes steak, baked potato, beans, green salad and seafood salad, all cooked to perfection by PCCU members.

Along with dinner, attendees look forward to the auction and raffle. This year the group has been awarded the governor's antelope tag and turkey tag. Both of these will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Over 30 firearms will be either auctioned or raffled at this year's event.

This year's event will feature a 7mm magnum hand-built by Gordon Hostman.

"The walnut stock comes from a tree that once grew at Pershing County High School," PCCU President Dan Hill said.

In addition to the firearms, there will be over 20 pieces of wildlife art, including several giclees (prints on canvas) and other works by Nevada Artist Fred Boyce.

Hill said he's proud to say that all the money raised from this fundraiser stays in northern Nevada. This year the group gave out three, $1,000 scholarships to local PCHS graduates. PCCU, in conjunction with the Nevada Department of Wildlife, built a big game water development near the Eugene Mountain Range earlier this year. The group also supports the student-published northern Nevada outdoor magazine.

A limited number of tickets for the dinner are available at $35 each. Contact Dan Hill at (775) 335-5503 or any PCCU member for tickets. Cocktails begin at 5:30 p.m. and the dinner is served at 7 p.m.
