The team was started by former Pershing County Sheriff Ron Skinner and former Lovelock Correctional Center Officer Connie Fruge. The general membership of the team is quite extensive and includes members from the Pershing County Sheriff's Office, Lovelock Correctional Center, Lovelock Police Department, Nevada Highway Patrol and Parole and Probation, team co-captain Tamara Bartel said.
LCC members are Bartel and co-captain Paul Simms, Otto Bartel, Michael Woodruff, Gabby Garibay, Lisa Jenkins and Eric Armstead.
Bartel said the team's goal is to raise at least $1,000. They already have collection jars at the correctional center. Although the donations haven't been counted yet, Bartel said the collection jars usually yield around $300.
The team has also been selling raffle tickets for the Reno Rodeo. The winners will be drawn at Wells Fargo Bank on Friday, June 8, so hurry to get in on the raffle. Contact Valaree Olivas at 273-0448 or any other team member for raffle tickets.
As for the overnight event that's to be held June 23, the Peacekeepers plan to barbecue tri-tip and will have carnival games donated by the sheriff's office DARE program.
