1958-2015
Paula Copeland left us on Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, with her family by her side.
Paula was born on April 18, 1958, in Phoenix, Ariz., and was raised in Casa Grande, Ariz., until the age of 12. Paula was born to Bufford and Doris Bagby. Her father worked as a mechanic at the Nevada test site and served in the Korean War. Doris was fortunate enough to stay home and and raise her four girls.
She was recently preceded in death by her mother, Doris, May 7, 2014, and her father, Bufford Bagby, Feb. 4, 1988. Paula is survived by her sisters, Debbie Mendyk, Alice Blankenship and Tina Dunlap; her husband, Dave Copeland; three children, Heidi Mackey (Scott), Cory Bagby-Copeland (Gabbee), Shanna Copeland (Eddie); and nine grandchildren, Isaac, Mckenzie, Isabella, Krysta, Olivia, Jackson, Izzy, Lauren and Brody.
Paula was a talented artist. She taught art lessons throughout her years and has had several art pieces in galleries and museums throughout Arizona, Wyoming, Nevada and the Virgin Islands.
Paula was described an Indian princess by many. She was known to love the unlovable. If you didn't feel special, you would feel amazing after you were with her for a short time. Paula was remembered for her long fight with breast cancer. She was originally diagnosed in 2005 and went into remission for six years. When the cancer returned in 2011, she was committed to fighting even harder than the first time. Paula did just that. And with every treatment, Paula would not complain. She was courageous! She thanked God for all that she had and continued to light up the room even when she was in pain. She insisted on having family over as often as possible. She wanted to continue to host all the holiday meals at her house and invite everyone that was willing to come. Paula had a servant's heart. She reflected Christ in everything that she did and with every word that was spoken.
Paula did everything in love.
Funeral services for Paula Copeland will be held Saturday, March 7, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Winnemucca Christian Fellowship, 4380 Grass Valley Rd., Winnemucca, NV, 89445.
