Patrick Allen McDonald

Patrick Allen McDonald

March 7, 1948 to July 18, 2011

Monday morning, July 18th, at Rosewood Nursing Home, in the company of his oldest son, Patrick went to be with his Heavenly Father. After several months of battling his way back from a severe stroke, Patrick’s frail body gave out. He fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.

Patrick was born in Winnemucca to Chester Francis “Frank” McDonald and Zerelda Lucille “Pat” Caldwell. He attended Humboldt County School thru 7th grade, and then moved to Reno in 1962. Patrick attended St. Albert for 8th grade and graduated from Bishop Manogue in 1967.

December, 1967, Patrick enlisted in the Navy and completed boot camp in San Diego. He served aboard the USS Mount Baker AE4 and USS Vega AF-59 where he trained to be an Engineman working on the ship’s diesel engines. In 1971, Patrick was honorably discharged as an Engineman 2nd class and returned to Reno.

Patrick met Sandra Lee Bickley in Reno. They wed in 1973. Together they raised four children; Juli, Patricc, Benedict and Kathleen. In 1993, the marriage dissolved.

Patrick was dedicated to both his country and his faith, serving as a Knight of Columbus and an active parishioner at St. Thomas Aquinas Cathedral. Patrick loved hunting, fishing, and researching his Scottish history.

Patrick is preceded in death by his parents. Surviving family are his brothers Delphi, Paul, David, Timothy, Peter and Kevin; sisters Faye, Mary, Marlene, and Deanna; mother of his children, Sandi Jackson, sons Patricc and Ben; daughters Juli and Kati and 15 grandchildren.

Dad, we love you and miss you; you’ll never be forgotten.

Services are at St. Thomas Aquinas Cathedral, Tuesday, July 27th, 9am; burial at Our Lady of Sorrows.[[In-content Ad]]
