WINNEMUCCA - Winnemucca Domestic Violence Services and AmeriCorps members of northern Nevada have teamed up to have a "Party in the Park" on Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Vesco Park in celebration of National Crime Victims Rights Week and Global Youth Service Day.
This "party" will consist of an adult volleyball tournament from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m., bounce houses for kids, arts, crafts, and games (with prizes) for kids, and a "Solutions to Bullying" poster contest, and food/beverages for sale. This is a free event.
Organizations are welcome, organizers said, either by having a booth for public education and/or by bringing your families out to have a good time and support this event.
Also, interested in participating in the volleyball game should call (775) 623-1313 by Wednesday, April 24.
Wednesday, April 24, is "Denim Day," where numerous agencies and businesses around Winnemucca (and the world!) will have their employees wear denim (jeans) for the day.
Wearing jeans on this day has become an international symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes about sexual assault.
WDVS wants to know if your group will be a part of Denim Day, and whether you will take your own photo. Email photos to bobyrne@winnemuccadvs.org.[[In-content Ad]]
