Paradise Valley firemen's 63rd annual barbeque is Sunday

Treat dad on Father's Day to some good country cooking

PARADISE VALLEY - Aim the car for Paradise Valley and bring your appetite! The 63rd Annual Fireman's Barbecue is set for Sunday, June 16.

The fun starts at 1 p.m., with door prizes, horseshoe pitching, a nail driving contest and kids races.

The Paradise Valley Firemen started their Barbecue in June of 1950 as a fun thing for the community. It has continued for 63 years. They have served up to 1,500 people in one year, organizers say.

Although the menu has changed slightly, it still consists of barbecue beef cooked in a pit under the ground. Beans, bread and salad round out the meal. Tickets are $15 per adult; $5 for kids 12 and under; preschoolers admitted free.

Advance tickets are available from any fireman or at the gate. The fun only lasts until 4 p.m., so get out to Paradise Valley for a great Father's Day lunch!
