Oscar Lloyd Carpenter

Oscar Lloyd Carpenter of Winnemucca passed away at Renown Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 74 years of age. Oscar was born on July 21, 1938 in Texas. His family moved to Cupertino, California as a child. He served his country as a rifleman in the U.S. Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserves. He was married and raised his 4 children in Campbell, California where he worked as a carpenter and as a truck driver. He moved to Winnemucca, Nevada in 1980 where he worked in maintenance for the Humboldt County School District until his retirement. He spent a lot of time taking his granddaughters fishing, camping, and on bike rides to the railroad tracks. He loved fishing, animals, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and Nascar. Oscar was never wrong a day in his life and thoroughly enjoyed, and excelled at, being ornery but he also loved a good ribbing delivered to him by loved ones. Oscar is survived by his children, Connie and Owen Brinkerhoff of Winnemucca, Ken Carpenter of Massachusetts and David Carpenter of Winnemucca. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jennica Fitzgerald, Shannon and John Sanchez, and Jaymi and Danny Ham of Winnemucca, Crystal Whalen, Amber Joubert, Justina Carpenter, Joshua Carpenter, and Jeremiah Carpenter of Massachusetts, Cody Carpenter of California, Lindsey Carpenter, his many great-grandchildren, family members Jim and Kelly Fitzgerald of Winnemucca, and his beloved dog, Chili. He is pre-deceased by his daughter, Cindy Lopez, and parents Ruby and Wealthybird Carpenter. Services will be held on Tuesday, September 18th, 2012 at 10 am at the Winnemucca Christian Fellowship Church, with graveside services at 11 am and reception for family and friends, old and new, to follow.[[In-content Ad]]
