LOVELOCK - Plans are in the making for the 2014 Frontier Days and you can be part of it. The Frontier Days Committee (FDC) is holding a contest to decide the theme of next year's event. So put on your thinking caps and come up with an idea for the theme.
The winner of the contest will ride on the FDC float in next year's parade, get a T-shirt and hat with their logo on it and receive tickets to the annual 4-H barbeque at the Frontier Days celebration.
"The contest is open to all Pershing County residents," FDC Information Coordinator Jana Laird said. "We are hoping for a lot of entries from people in town and in the outer parts of the county."
Entrees should be typed or legibly handwritten and submitted by Nov. 4 at the chamber of commerce office in the Lovelock Depot or posted on the Frontier Days Facebook page. Include the theme, some ideas on how to implement the theme and your contact information.
Laird said there is no need to be an artist. The FDC is keeping the sketch of the courthouse as their logo and the theme name will be printed around their logo on all their merchandise.
"We are hoping to get some fresh ideas with this contest and get more people involved with Frontier Days," Laird said.
Anyone interested in helping plan next year's Frontier Days should attend the FDC meetings held the first Wednesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. at the Pershing County Community Center. For more information about the contest or joining the committee, call Laird at 273-3707.[[In-content Ad]]
