Officials probe shooting of two estray horses in Lyon County

MOUND HOUSE (AP) - Authorities have posted a $1,000 reward in an ongoing investigation into the shooting of two estray horses in Lyon County east of Carson City.

Nevada Department of Agriculture investigators say one of the horses apparently was shot to death before it was found in the Mound House area on Monday. A second horse found alive in the same area had been shot with arrows and had to be euthanized.

Secret Witness is offering a $1,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible.

Estrays are considered livestock property of the state of Nevada. Anyone convicted of killing one is faces up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.[[In-content Ad]]
