Officers represent WPD in best way

Editor:

A big thank you to the Winnemucca Police Department for their assistance and kindness the night of the "Parade of Lights!" Bridge Street was cordoned off to keep the street clear for the parade viewers. My dilemma was that I was driving the Harmony Manor bus full of residents who were excited to watch the parade, and had nowhere to park.

It seemed the only recourse which I could exercise was to park a block away from Bridge Street and somehow get the residents to the street to view the parade. The unfortunate part of the equation is that these folks needed the warmth from the bus, as it was a very cold evening. I could not unload them from the bus in their wheelchairs and get them to a spot along Bridge Street for them to enjoy the parade without them freezing!

I talked with Officer Cassinelli at the intersection and begged him to let us park where we had the year before, just down from the fire station. I explained the situation to him about the residents and the temperature. He graciously permitted us to park the bus where we had the year before! Officer Murdock assisted us with parking and also kept an eye on us. He assisted with us being able to pull away from our parking spot when the parade had finished.

Thank you, officers. You represent the Winnemucca Police Department in the best way! The residents of Harmony Manor had a great time and we appreciate all that you did!

Sincerely,

Marlaine Marden
