Obituary: Richard Alan Reynolds

Richard Alan Reynolds passed away at his home in Escondido, Calif., on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010. He was 40 years of age.

Richard was born to Richard and Sharon Marie Reynolds on April 24, 1970, in Winnemucca. He attended elementary school and high school in Winnemucca and when he was young, he enjoyed riding dirt bikes, listening to music, shooting guns and spending time with his friends and cousin. At the age of 18, Richard joined the U.S. Navy and served for eight years. After serving in the Navy, Richard accepted a civilian position with the U.S. Department of Navy Defense and worked in that capacity until his death. In 1997, after several years of being transferred around the country, Richard and his wife settled in Escondido and in 1999, their daughter, Makayla was born.

Richard enjoyed fidgeting with gadgets and electronics. He was a member of the local pool league and in his spare time, he loved to shoot pool and play darts. He also enjoyed going on fishing trips and coming home to Winnemucca on occasion to spend time with family and friends. Richard especially loved spending quality time with his young daughter.

Richard will be deeply missed by all. We love you and may you rest in peace father, brother, and uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. Richard is survived by his wife and his daughter Makalya, both of Escondido; his sister Shellie Cooney of Winnemucca; his niece Katherine Cooney and nephew Wil Cooney, both of Winnemucca; uncle Alan Lewis and aunt Beatrice Lewis, both of Sparks; his cousins Michael, Matthew and Mitchell-James Lewis, each of Sparks; Stepmother Fran Reynolds, and his half brother Craig Reynolds of Winnemucca, half sister Rene Daly, and niece Trista Curry of Sacramento, Calif.

Father and son will be remembered in a memorial service at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Saturday, Jan. 22, at noon. A celebration of their lives will be held to follow.
