David Duane Sheeran
May 31, 1946 to March 5, 2015
David (Dave) Duane Sheeran lost his valiant battle with lung cancer and died in his home in Carson City, Nev. on March 5, 2015. Dave was born in Las Vegas on May 31, 1946 and moved to Lovelock, Nev. at the age of 2. Dave went all through school in Lovelock and graduated from Pershing County High School in 1964. Shortly after graduation he joined the Air Force and was fortunate to be able to serve in Germany as well here in the states. He was honorably discharged in August of 1968. During his service tour he became a carpenter and obtained the rank of Sergeant. After the service he returned to his beloved hometown of Lovelock.
During his years in Lovelock he was considered a hard worker and worked for Eagle Pitcher Mining Company, as well as the Cooney Iron Mine, and near the end of his career he helped build foundations and modular homes. Dave was a long time member of the Eagles organization and prided himself on his accomplishments in this organization, especially with building the current meeting house. Dave was also an avid bowler and in 1972, along with his father Charlie and 3 other Eagle members won the American Bowling Congress Championship. Dave continued to bowl for most of his life until physically he could not.
Dave met and married the love of his life Kathy Fair in January of 2008 and moved to Stockton. When she passed away in 2009 Dave moved back to Carson City. Dave was also preceded in death by his parents Helen and Charles Sheeran.
During his lifetime Dave was an avid blood donor as he had AB + and was very proud of the fact that he had given gallons of blood and had the pins to show for it. One of the things that made him mad when he became ill was that he could not give blood.
To all Dave's friends and family he was a "big teddy bear" and would give you whatever you asked for. We loved him dearly and he will be missed by all.
Dave is survived by his sisters Barbara Smith (and husband Stan) of Bishop, Calif., Geri Inskeep ( and husband Mike) of Reno and Peg Sheeran of Los Angeles, Dave had 2 nieces he doted on, Katie Coffman of Big Pine, Calif., and Helena Inskeep of Reno, and 2 nephews he was very proud of, Jason Smith (and his wife Kim) of Louisville, Kentucky, and Caleb Inskeep of Reno. Dave is also survived by two grand-nephews both of which he loved dearly, Cole and Keeton Coffman of Big Pine.. Dave loved children and was wonderful with them all.
Dave requested cremation and no services. The family will be doing a celebration of his life in August with a private interment in the Lone Mountain Cemetery in his home town of Lovelock.
In lieu of flowers Dave's family requests a donation to your favorite children's charity or a unit of blood in his memory.[[In-content Ad]]
