Obituary: Barbara Ann McRae

Barbara Ann McRae of Winnemucca, died Jan. 9, 2011, in Reno as a result of a fatal heart attack caused by respiratory distress. She was 69.

Barbara was born March 15, 1941, in Buffalo, N.Y. She married Don McRae July 7, 1960. The couple spent time in New York, Georgia, Florida, Indiana, Nebraska and Kansas before settling in Winnemucca in 2001. Together they had six children. Barbara and Don traveled the United States doing a variety of jobs from truck driving to motel/hotel management, ending in Winnemucca to assist her husband with his job in gaming.

Barbara enjoyed cooking, playing casino games at home on the computer and in the casinos and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Don of 50 years; son Joe (Millie) McRae of Waleska, Ga.; son Stoney (Krystal) McRae of McCook, Neb.; daughter Kim (Larry) Dempewolf of Central City, Neb.; son John (Denise) McRae of McCook, Neb.; daughter Ann Ward of Clark, Neb. Barbara is also survived by 16 grandkids, 10 great grandkids and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by special friends Dennis and Glenda Deputy and many others, plus her cat Max.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents and infant son Billy, 2 brothers and 2 cats.
