NV Energy Foundation supports Nevada nonprofits with over $455,000 in grants

The NV Energy Foundation contributed over $455,000 to 35 nonprofit organizations statewide during the third quarter of 2014.

A total of 19 northern Nevada nonprofits received grants, including the Nevada Museum of Art, Washoe Legal Services, Friends in Service Helping, C*A*R*E* Chest of Sierra Nevada, United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra and the Nevada Discovery Museum.

Grants were awarded to 16 southern Nevada organizations, including the Nevada State College Foundation, Teach for America, the Solar Electric Power Association, HELP of Southern Nevada and United Way of Southern Nevada.

"We recognize the critical services these organizations bring to our communities and we're proud to be able to help support their important missions," said NV Energy's Tony Sanchez, senior vice president of Government and Community Strategy.

Throughout the year the NV Energy Foundation contributes funds to help local nonprofit groups. Its focus is on education, the environment, youth development, arts and multicultural outreach, and health and human services.
