RENO - The NV Energy Foundation contributed $721,250 to 24 northern Nevada nonprofit organizations during the first six months of 2013.
Contributions supported everything from disaster relief efforts following the recent Oklahoma tornados to the Girl Scouts of the Sierra Nevada, according to a news release from the company.
"NV Energy has a longstanding tradition of community support," said Mary Simmons, vice president of external strategy for NV Energy, adding that the company provides grants to northern Nevada nonprofits that support education, the environment, youth development, arts and multi-cultural outreach, and health and human services.
Simmons said the breakfast reception will provide an opportunity for grant recipients to learn about each other's organizations and to share ideas.
