NOVS and veterans prepare for Veterans and Military Day at the Legislature

CARSON CITY - The Nevada Office of Veterans Services will host the Veterans and Military Day at the Legislature on March 20 to help focus attention on current legislative bills affecting veteran issues and serve as an opportunity for veterans to interact with legislators.

"This is the day when we bring legislators together with veteran and military advocates to discuss current issues and challenges in the community," said Executive Director Caleb Cage."

The day will begin at 9 a.m. with a reception at the Carson City Veterans Hall, located on the corner of 2nd and Curry streets, one block west of the legislative building. Gov. Brian Sandoval will keynote the agenda where various local and state leaders will also address attendees. The governor will also sign into law one of the first veteran bills of the legislative session. Following the morning event, attendees are invited to the Capitol grounds to view military displays, speak with state representatives and take part in the Fallen Veterans presentation.

"We invite everyone to hear the Governor and speakers present and discuss current veteran issues and also to pre-register so we can plan for a great BBQ lunch," said Cage. Lunch is available for registered attendees and will be held in room 3100 of the legislature building at noon.
