For kids, snow means a time of sledding and building snowmen. For adults, snow can be quite unwelcome. Elvey Combs, owner of Enchanted Garden Nursery, shoveled snow recently outside of his business on Front Street. The National Weather Service has two observers in the Battle Mountain area. One is the official observer and one is a volunteer. The official person reported 3.3 inches of snow near the Battle Mountain Airport on Jan. 31 and 1 inch Feb. 4. According to the volunteer, who took measurements near downtown, 5.3 inches fell on Jan. 31 and 1.2 inches came down Feb. 4.[[In-content Ad]]
