RENO - Dolan Automotive Group will help local teachers and students implement new programs with its Third Annual Class Project Giveaway. The annual contest encourages area public school teachers to submit a concept for a classroom project on behalf of students.
Teacher proposals are then voted on by fans of the Dolan Automotive Group's Facebook page. This year, an additional $10,000 will be given away, making a grand total of $60,000 to 22 schools.
Two top schools will earn $5,000, one based on the most votes and the other by being the Dolan Automotive Group employee pick. The 20 runner-up schools with the most votes will earn $2,500 to help bring their ideas to life. Teachers can go to DolanAutoGroup.com/class-project-2013.htm to enter a proposal. Submissions are due by Sunday, Oct. 13.
"We have had tremendous success with Class Project and appreciate how eager teachers have been to get started with this year's contest," Ryan Dolan, CEO of Dolan Automotive Group, said. "Education is incredibly important to our family, our employees, and our community, so we feel that as community leaders we need to help our students and teachers in any way possible. We are looking forward to seeing this year's submissions."
Teachers are encouraged to enter the contest early and share ideas with parents, faculty members and alumni of the school. Project topics are at the discretion of the teacher. Whether it be an art or science project, music, technology, unique and creative proposals are encouraged. Teachers must be K-12 public school or public charter school employees in Washoe, Carson City, Churchill, Douglas, Humboldt, Lyon, Mineral, Pershing or Storey counties to enter.
The entry period is Monday, Sept. 30, to Sunday, Oct. 13, and voting takes place from Monday, Oct. 21, to Sunday, Nov. 3. Winners will be announced Monday, Nov. 4.
Since 2011, Dolan Automotive Group has given $100,000 to 40 northern Nevada classrooms with Class Project.
