Northern Nevada golfers converge on Winnemucca for annual spring pro am

Golfers from around northern Nevada converged to Winnemucca Municipal Golf Course last weekend for the spring Winnemucca Pro Am as part of the PGA Sierra Nevada Chapter.

Dan Wittlinger led the way on the individual side with a two-day total of 147 to take the top honor in the first flight. Ethan Gray was second at 150 and Bryce Sauer was third with a 151.

Joe Pratt was first in the net division of the first flight with a score of 137. Foster Kenton (138) finished second and Mark Carlson (140) placed third.

Richard Smith claimed the top spot in the second flight with a 161 and Kevin Mullins was second at 166. Tom Lee, Rick Schumann and Matthew Homolka tied for third at 173.

Jason Cardenas won the net division with a total of 139. Joe Dendary (145) was second and Robert Velasquez (146) third.

David Adams was first in the third flight at 175 and Kenny Moore (180) finished second. Scott Spero and Mike Adams tied for third with scores of 181.

Gary Longson was low net in the third flight at 138, Wes Teague (143) was second and Trish Tatu (144) was third.

On the pro side, Scott Smith was first with a 3-under par 141 for two days. Joey Dendary and Steve Hummel tied for second at 148. Mike Paul paced the senior pro field at 145 and Pete Summerbell was second at 152. Fred Elliott was third with a 157.

There was a three-team tie for first place in the team race on Saturday at 197. Those included Dendary, Carter, Carlson, Gust and Velasquez; Dendary, Mendoza, Rice, Dendary and Moore and Smith, Detomasi, Sauer, Mori and Patterson. The group of Longhurst, Pratt, Turner, Meckley and Anderson were fourth at 199.

On Sunday, the team of Dendary, Carter, Carlson, Gust and Velasquez were first at 193. Dendary, Dendary, Shorter III, Shorter IV and Moore and Smith, Wittlinger, Smith, Spero and Bauer tied for second at 194.

There was a four-way tie for fourth at 203.[[In-content Ad]]
