RENO - The National Judicial College announced that Letty Norcutt of the Union Township Justice Court in Winnemucca completed Special Court Jurisdiction June 3-13 in Reno.
Norcutt was elected to the office of Justice of the Peace for Humboldt County in November of 2012.
The course Norcutt completed provides judges with the skills to conduct criminal hearings and trials in compliance with the constitutional and statutory standards; make appropriate evidentiary rulings and communicate effectively in court and with the media, among other topics.
The National Judicial College was founded in 1963 and is the nation's leading provider of judicial education. The NJC is housed on the University of Nevada, Reno campus.
With courses held onsite, across the nation and around the world, the NJC offers an average of 95 courses annually with more than 3,000 judges enrolling from all 50 states, U.S. territories and more than 150 countries. Since it opened, the NJC has awarded more than 85,000 professional judicial education certificates.
