WINNEMUCCA - Humboldt County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the 7000 block of Sundown Drive on Tuesday about 4 p.m. on the report of a possible shooting and a person down at that location.
Deputies found a female adult, age 29, suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. She was transported to Humboldt General Hospital and then eventually to Renown Medical Center in Reno for surgery. According to a HCSO news release, she was in the intensive Care Unit as of Wednesday afternoon.
So far in this investigation, HCSO detectives believe that the wound was self-inflicted and that there may have been an argument between the victim and another party at the residence just immediately prior to the shooting. The other party was present when deputies arrived and was cooperative with their investigation, HCSO said.
At this time, no charges are expected to be filed against any persons involved, according to HCSO.
