News from Battle Mountain High School

BATTLE MOUNTAIN - Battle Mountain High School has welcomed over 350 students back to school this fall. The freshman class is experiencing high school for the first time, returning students are resuming their routines, and the senior classes of almost 100 future graduates create an atmosphere of excitement in the halls.

BMHS staff asks that our community be aware of the increased traffic around all of the schools. There is also an increase of students walking to and from school. Let us all be careful, please.

BMHS also asks the community for their help in making sure students come to school. The biggest indicator of school success is good attendance. The teachers at BMHS are awesome but they can't teach a student who isn't there. Please attempt to schedule appointments on non-school days or after school hours. If it is not possible to schedule absences outside of school hours please notify the school in advance so arrangements can be made with your child's teachers.

BMHS will be holding parent-teacher conferences on Oct. 30 from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Nov. 1 from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a break for lunch. Please plan to attend and meet the teachers who are working with your children. The teachers will be available to explain class procedures and answer questions. This will be a great opportunity to help your student get the year off to a great start.

Collin Belnap is the principal of Battle Mountain High School.
