WINNEMUCCA - A total of 46 Newmont interns from the Elko area and Winnemucca gathered in Winnemucca on June 25 for two community service projects arranged by the City of Winnemucca.
A group of interns dug ditches for drainage, built planter boxes and weeded at the Winnemucca Community Garden. Another group did some much needed clean-up at the Historical Cemetery - weeding, trimming hedges, cleaning up debris, etc.
The interns represent over 15 U.S. universities in a variety of disciplines - Mine Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Geological Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Geology, Industrial Hygiene, IT, Supply Chain and Journalism. All are working within their degree area gaining real-world work experience.
Newmont interns are enrolled college students working toward a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
