New unemployment insurance claim system implementation nears completion

CARSON CITY - The Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation's (DETR) new unemployment insurance system, known as UInv, is currently being launched in stages, which has resulted in minor delays in some claimants' ability to file their weekly claims.

Some claimants may possibly experience a one-day delay in receiving their weekly payments, said DETR Director Frank Woodbeck.

Starting Sept. 4, call center staff began logging into the new system and taking telephone claims, including the filing of new claims in the upgraded system.

In addition, the telephone weekly claim filing system (Quick claim) became available so individuals can now file their weekly claims in UInv. Individuals should continue making attempts to call in to the telephone system to file their weekly claims. The new Internet claims filing portion is also staging for launch and is expected to be available for claimants to file online through the web.

"We are being very conservative in the launch of the new system as several steps are necessary to ensure proper processing of benefit payments to our customers," said Woodbeck. "We ask that our customers be patient with us as this is the culmination of a nearly four-year process. Once completely up and running, this new system will yield many positive results for our customers, and security for our unemployment compensation program. Considering the magnitude of this undertaking, the transition has proceeded with minimal issues. We just ask for patience as we gradually ramp up the new system to full deployment over the coming days."[[In-content Ad]]
