"My husband Corey and I moved here to Lovelock last year and we walked with our friends, John and Alicia Brock for the Relay and realized that there wasn't a team formed by EP Minerals," she said. "We see this team as an opportunity to get involved with our community."
This is the team's first year participating in the Lovelock event, although some members have previously been involved with the American Cancer Society's fundraiser, Baldwin-Hartwig said.
The team currently has seven members including Baldwin-Hartwig. The other members are Alicia Brock, Kim Ruiz, Bonnie Mason, Karina Rosas, Penny Haas and Sandy Miller.
The newly formed team will be raising money for cancer research during the overnight Relay event on June 22 by selling nachos and raffle tickets. Among the many items they will be raffling are an iPod3 and train tickets.
Baldwin-Hartwig said that the team was not going to stress over the amount of money they raised for their first year.
"We feel that any amount raised is awesome and it is for a great cause," she said.
