New dates for comment periods impacted by the shutdown

RENO - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Nevada announces new dates for comment periods for two environmental assessments (EAs) that were open during the recent Federal government shutdown. The documents providing information for comments were not available on the BLM website from Oct. 1 through Oct. 16, 2013. The new dates reflect the number of days the comment periods overlapped the shutdown.

Ely District:

• Mt. Hamilton Road Use and Road Improvement EA. The original comment period was scheduled to close on Oct. 12; the new date starting Nov. 1 will close on Nov. 12, 2013.

Battle Mountain District:

• Copper Basin Exploration Project EA. The original comment period was scheduled to close on Oct 23; the new date, starting Nov. 1 will close on Nov. 16, 2013.

Public involvement is an essential part of analysis as required by the National Environmental Policy Act. Comments submitted by the new dates will be considered by the BLM. Addresses for submitting comments are available at the BLM Nevada website: http://www.blm.gov/nv/st/en/info/nepa.html.
