New assistant superintendent on school board agenda

WINNEMUCCA - The Humboldt County School District Board of School Trustees will meet on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. in the Lowry High School auditorium.

The meeting begins with the call to order and special recognition for Quinn Norcutt and the Ag Mechanics Team, the Lowry High School band and the Mining Foundation Teacher Recognition Awards. Public comment and the superintendent's report follow.

There are four presentations scheduled, including results of Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) and an invitation to the Art/CTE Showcase. Also scheduled are results of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Conference, an IC presentation and an RPDP update.

Consent agenda items include the possible approval of warrants.

Agenda items include a minimum day request for Lowry High School on Nov. 5, 2012, to host the Northern Regional Student Council Conference. There are six trip requests scheduled. They include grades 5-6 at McDermitt Combined School to the Discover Center in Boise, Idaho; Winnemucca Junior High School students to Washington, D.C., and New York City March 24 - 29, 2013; Quinn Norcutt to the Skills USA National Competition in Kansas City, Mo.; Lowry FFA students to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., Oct. 23 - 27; Lowry FFA Livestock Judging Team to the FFA Livestock Judging Camp in Twin Falls, Idaho July 9 - 13; and the Lowry FCCLA to the national competition and conference in Orlando, Fla., July 7 - 13.

The board will also get an update on class-size reduction, enrollment and staffing. Also scheduled is possible ratification of Dr. Bill Myhr as assistant superintendent and approval of his contract.
