RENO (AP) - Nevada point guard Deonte Burton is one of 29 college basketball players who have been invited to try out for a spot on the USA men's national team this summer.
The senior who averaged 16.3 points and 3.6 assists per game last season will compete for a spot on the roster for the 2013 USA Basketball Men's World University Games to be played July 6-17 in Kazan, Russia.
Team training camp is scheduled June 24-30 at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. The 12-member roster will be announced before the team leaves for Russia on July 1.
Burton was third-team all-Mountain West selection last season.
He was the Western Athletic Conference's freshman of the year, and received honorable mention on The Associated Press all-America team as a sophomore.
