Nevada volleyball team signs two players for 2015 season

RENO - The Nevada volleyball team has signed two high-level student-athletes to National Letters of Intent as Jamila Minor, an outside hitter from Columbia, S.C., and Mo Maluotoga, a libero and a 2014 graduate of Reed High School in Sparks, are set to compete in the Silver and Blue next season, head coach Ruth Lawanson announced on Tuesday.

"I am extremely excited about this incoming class," said Lawanson. "Both Jamila and Mo give us much needed depth, they are very athletic and have a very good volleyball IQ."

Along with returners Madison Morell and Madison Foley next season, Minor will bolster the rotation on the outside after earning four varsity letters at Westwood High School in Blythewood, S.C. and playing for the Magnum Volleyball Club, one of the top club teams in South Carolina. Minor was named All-Region and All-State her senior season.

A product of the Silver State Volleyball Club and a standout performer at Reed High School, Maluotoga, who signed a scholarship agreement beginning in January 2015, is expected to add depth to the backline.

She was a two-time First Team All-High Desert League selection and played a key role on Reed's 2011 regional championship squad.

Maluotoga will be the third Nevada player on the roster hailing from Sparks with sophomore setter Lyndsey Anderson and freshman middle blocker Gabby Szachara.
