Nevada to host Washington State in front of national TV audience

RENO - Under the lights of Mackay Stadium and with a national audience watching, Nevada will host Pac-12 foe Washington State on Friday night.

The game will kick off at 7:36 p.m. on ESPN as Mark Neely and Mike Bellotti call the game. The Wolf Pack are in pursuit of its first win over Washington State in program history (0-2) and a first win over a Pac-12 opponent since defeating California on the road to open the 2012 season.

Nevada opened the season with a 29-19 victory over Southern Utah, while Washington State fell short to Rutgers in Seattle in a 41-38 shootout.

After accumulating 371 yards of total offense in week one, senior QB Cody Fajardo is just 32 yards away from joining Colin Kaepernick (2007-10) and David Neill (1998-01) in Nevada's 10,000 yard club.

In his first career start, Jerico Richardson gave a breakout performance in week one with 13 receptions and 177 receiving yards, ranking second and first in the Mountain West in those two categories.

In the week one win, Nevada had a 300-yard passer, 100-yard receiver and 100-yard rusher for the first time since the San Diego State game in 2013. Nevada is one of four teams in FBS to be perfect in the red zone in offense and defense.

Washington State owns a 6-3 record against Mountain West Conference opponents, having previously faced Nevada when they were in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). The Wolfpack joined the MWC in 2012. The Cougars last played a MWC opponent in last year's New Mexico Bowl defeat to Colorado State.

WSU's last regular season meeting with a Mountain West opponent came in 2012, Mike Leach's first season, a 35-27 victory at UNLV behind Connor Halliday's 4-TD performance.[[In-content Ad]]
