Nevada Prepaid Tuition open enrollment deadline June 30

CARSON CITY - State Treasurer Kate Marshall is reminding parents and other family caregivers that the 2013 Nevada Prepaid Tuition open enrollment period for newborns ends on June 30.

The Nevada Prepaid Tuition program enables parents, grandparents, and other family members to lock in future college tuition rates at today's prices.

"Parents should act fast to take advantage of the Nevada Prepaid Tuition Program benefit of locking in today's tuition costs," Marshall said. "The earlier you open an account, the longer you have to pay for your child's contract and the more savings you'll incur as tuition prices continue to escalate." Parents have a variety of options to participate in this program. Parents can pay a lump sum, spread the payments out over five years with 60 equal payments, or pay each month from the time of enrollment until the child is ready to start college.

The program is fully portable to private or public out-of-state colleges and universities, and may be transferred to another family member, including a first cousin.
