LAS VEGAS - As the final two months of open enrollment for health insurance approach, Ramirez Group, Nevada Health Link and Nevada JobConnect are partnering to provide weekend enrollment assistance to Nevadans seeking to sign up for the state's new health insurance marketplace. Ramirez Group is the largest Navigator conducting statewide enrollment outreach for Nevada Health Link.

"We're pleased to announce that weekend enrollment will now be available to the thousands of Nevadans looking for affordable health care," Andres Ramirez, president of Ramirez Group, says. "We want to make sure every Nevadan has the opportunity to get covered."

From now through the end of March, enrollment fairs will be hosted every Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. These fairs will take place at Nevada JobConnect offices throughout the state including offices in Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson, Reno, Sparks, Carson City, Fallon, Elko, Ely and Winnemucca. Certified enrollment assisters will be on hand at each site to answer questions, walk people through the sign-up process and troubleshoot problems.

Nevadans have until March 31 to purchase health insurance and avoid financial penalties put in place by the Affordable Care Act, more commonly known as Obamacare. Native Americans, undocumented immigrants, religious objectors, inmates and individuals whose income makes them ineligible to pay taxes are exempt from the individual mandate.

Ramirez says public demand for enrollment assistance hit peak levels before the December 2013 deadline for 2014 coverage, and he expects demand to skyrocket as the final March 31 deadline looms.

"People have been knocking at our doors and calling our offices non-stop," Ramirez says. "Our enrollment assisters are booked around the clock. By partnering with Nevada JobConnect and Nevada Health Link, we will be able to serve larger groups of people seeking coverage."

"The more Nevadans learn about the new options available through the Nevada Health Link, the more they want to purchase coverage," he says. "That's why we're expanding enrollment services - because the public is asking for this."

Nevada JobConnect, a project of the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (NDETR), connects businesses and job seekers. Its offices throughout Nevada serve unemployed or low-income residents who often lack health insurance, the very target audience for Nevada Health Link.
