CARSON CITY - The Nevada state engineer will hold a public workshop to discuss a water management plan for the Diamond Valley Hydrographic Basin, which is located principally in Eureka County.
The meeting is open to the public and will convene at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 25 at the District Courtroom, Eureka County Courthouse, at 20 S. Main St., Eureka.
The goal of this workshop is to create a framework for drafting a water management plan for Diamond Valley that may provide for solutions to restore the health and longevity of this over-appropriated basin and prevent water rights and domestic wells in the basin from being regulated by priority date.
Discussion will focus on the purpose of the water management plan; the goals, objectives and strategies that may constitute a water management plan; and issues (such as legal constraints) relating to the development of a water management plan for Diamond Valley.
